Erika's Story

I'm Erika. I am a first time gestational surrogate, with three children of my own. My interest in surrogacy began about 20 years ago, when I wrote a high school paper on surrogacy and IVF. The research I did for that paper gave me a greater awareness of infertility and the accompanying heartache that so many deserving, potential parents face. I made a conscious decision that someday, should I be so able, I would be a surrogate.

After my first daughter was born in 2000 my husband and I started talking about the possibility of surrogacy. He didn't quite understand my strong desire to be a surrogate, but he was open to the possibility. Five years, and two more children later, I began to do serious research into the field of surrogacy. I came across so much information, did so much reading online, and came across so many potential opportunities, but didn't feel totally at ease with any until I came across The Center for Surrogate Parenting (CSP) and their website, www.creatingfamilies.com . It seemed to me that they took the guesswork and the gamble out of being a surrogate. Their years of experience, their vast knowledge, and their professionalism are, in my most sincere opinion, unparalled.

And now here I am, almost a year later after having found CSP: I am 19 weeks pregnant, with a little girl, who is the biological child of both her mother and father. The journey so far has been nothing short of amazing, and even in my darkest hours (a.k.a. "morning" sickness), I haven't once had a single regret. My pregnancies aren't super easy, but they are always miraculous. So why wouldn't I want to experience that miracle all over again, and help a loving couple expand their family at the same time? I cannot wait until this precious little baby girl is born, and to see her mother and father hold her for the first time. I know that is an image that will always stay fresh in my mind. It is a gift and an experience that I am very fortunate to be a part of, to be able to help a very special family grow.
